Project "Philautia"

"Philautia" translates to "love for the self" and is often used to refer to a deep connection and love for what views as the self or the ego. This project revolved around this exact topic. With the unusual make-up, the weirdness of a person was represented. The poses being vulnerable and naked reflecting the fragility of ones being.

In the editing four different colours were chosen. The yellow reflects the radiance of ones appearance, when in actuality things might look less vibrant in that very person's own mind. A slight contradiction so to say.

The rose, green and blue were chosen to reflect the RGB. With every pixel consisting of this trinity of colours, it is a subtle link to the digital world and digital photography and the vulnerable side of us that only rather rarely seems to be able to shine in this digital era.
